I’ve Been Tagged…the Next Big Thing!

I am excited to be tagged by my good friend, Tessa Berkley, to participate in “The Next Big Thing” and share information on my latest project. Tessa’s steamy historicals featuring hunky Texas Rangers and cowboys to die for are wonderful, so it’s an honor to be tagged for this endeavor. I always look forward to reading Tessa’s books, and I’m happy to be a part of this blog game for writers. To show my appreciation for my readers, I’m giving away a copy of my e-book, Love Potion #7, to one commenter selected at random. Let me know what you think of my next big thing, and you might win!

So, I’m answering Tessa’s questions about my next “big thing”, so pretend she’s sitting here with me:

1. What is your working title of your book?

The Taming of Edmund Tremayne

2. Where did the idea come from for the book?

I wondered to myself: What if Jane Eyre and Mr. Rochester were into something a wee bit adventurous…and this story took root in my warped little mind.

3. What genre does your book fall under?

Historical erotic romance

4. Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

Oh, that’s a tough one. For Edmund, my tortured (in more ways than one) hero, I could picture Stephen Moyer of True Blood. He’s so brooding and moody. Love it! For my heroine, Jane…hmmm…I could really picture Olivia Wilde as the deceptively mousy governess.

5. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

A governess brings her seductive, mysterious employer to his knees.

6. How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

It’s a novella, so it didn’t require nearly as long as a full-length novel. I’d say two months, writing in the evenings and weekends.

7. What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

Historical romances with a dark, brooding feel…such as Anna Campbell’s Claiming the Courtesan.

8. Who or what inspired you to write this book?

Jane Eyre – I saw the latest version with Michael Fassbender and I was hooked. Actually, come to think of it, it’s be an awesome Edmund Tremayne.

9. What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

Readers who enjoy BDSM romance should find this romance very intriguing. (Ah, you thought I’d say satisfying, didn’t you? {wiggles brows} That goes without saying!)

This week, as always, I’m thankful for my readers. Leave a comment for a chance to win a free e-copy of my latest Ellora’s Cave release, Love Potion #7. I’ll announce the winner on Friday, February 1.

Next week, stop by the awesome Sherri Thomas’s blog on February 3 to learn all about her next big thing:  http://www.sherithomas.blogspot.com
